In-Person (with recording)
These sessions are held in-person at the specified location. Expect an energized event where you can network with attendees to make local connections with other practitioners and learn best practices. We organize the event to allow extra space to spread out. Light lunch is generally included.
Pre-Recorded
These valuable sessions are pre-recorded and can be viewed at any time during your selected session dates. Enjoy the flexibility to break up the sessions as required as well as pause, rewind or skip ahead. You can view the videos as many times as required.

New this year, Kenneth Keung brings nearly 25 years of experience advising high-net-worth families, private businesses, and multinational enterprises. His broad expertise spans corporate, trust, and cross-border tax planning, M&A, and succession strategies. An award-winning author and respected thought leader, he currently chairs STEP Canada’s National Tax Technical Committee and has held key positions with CPA Canada, the Canadian Tax Foundation, and other major organizations.

Caitlin is a tax specialist dedicated to the education of tax and financial professionals; focusing on personal and corporate tax matters for the owner-managed business person.
As a member of the Video Tax News Editorial Board, Caitlin regularly authors and edits multiple publications and presents courses to thousands of professionals annually. In addition, she authors and presents for various external organizations such as the Canadian Tax Foundation, The Centre for Public Legal Education and several CPA groups.
After spending many years working on numerous private company tax and assurance files at an international accounting firm in Vancouver, B.C., Caitlin has gained a deep appreciation of these areas. To maintain a solid practical base, Caitlin assists small to mid-sized accounting firms with tax matters.
Caitlin has completed CPA Canada’s three-year In-Depth Tax Course. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.

Joseph R. Devaney CPA, CA

Joe has provided technical support on both corporate and personal tax matters to local and international firms since 2007. Joe’s practical experience has primarily included compliance and planning strategies for Canadian owner-manager businesses and individuals.
As a member of the Video Tax News Editorial Board, Joe authors and contributes to three tax publications as well as prepares and presents courses across Canada relating to both personal and corporate tax. He has also presented tax research and published articles for a variety of other organizations such as Law Now, Canadian Tax Foundation and various CPA groups.
Joe currently sits on CPA Alberta's Members in Tax Working Group and received CPA Alberta’s distinguished service award in 2023. Joe is a past member the Steering Committee of the Edmonton Young Tax Practitioners Group and of the Board of Directors for Fringe Theatre Adventures.

Hugh Neilson FCPA, FCA, TEP

Hugh is a member of the Video Tax News Editorial Board. He also practices as an independent contractor to Kingston Ross Pasnak LLP in Edmonton, AB. His practice focuses on income tax services for individuals and owner-managed private corporations.
Hugh was awarded the Alberta gold medal and National silver medal when he wrote the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Uniform Final Examination in 1990, and has practiced in the area of taxation since. He provides tax consultation in many diverse areas, including business structuring and restructuring, negotiations with Canada Revenue Agency auditors and Appeals Officers, tax-effective compensation strategies, immigration and emigration planning and strategies for tax-effective personal, family and estate planning.
Hugh is the 2014 recipient of CPA Canada’s Award for Excellence in Income Tax, and a 2017 recipient of a CPA Canada Volunteer Recognition Award.
Hugh serves on a variety of committees and organizations. He is presently a member of CPA Alberta’s Members in Tax Working Group and the Joint Committee on Taxation of CPA Canada and the Canadian Bar Association. Hugh is the Chair of CPA Canada's Small and Medium Practitioners Tax Committee, and the CPA Canada Co-Chair of the CPA Canada - CRA Service Committee. He serves as a Director, and the Treasurer, of the Centre for Public Legal Education of Alberta. He is a former Governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation.

Kenneth Keung CA, CPA (CO,USA), CFP, TEP, LLB, MTAX

Kenneth is tax practitioner who has been providing his expertise in tax planning to high net-worth families, private businesses and multi-national enterprises for almost 25 years. His wide-ranging practice includes individual, trust and corporate tax planning, cross-border investments, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, and estate and succession planning.
Kenneth is a frequent writer on tax matters and an award-winning author of many notable published papers. Kenneth is currently Chair of STEP Canada’s national Tax Technical Committee, a member of the Editorial Board of the Federated Press International Tax Planning Journal, and a member of The Joint Committee on Taxation of the Canadian Bar Association and the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada. Printed Textbook Fee —
- All sessions - The electronic textbook is included for all sessions.
- In-person - The printed textbook is included in the registration fee.
- Virtual live or pre-recorded - Up to 11 business days prior to the session the printed textbook can be ordered for an additional fee of $70. After that date, while supplies last, printed textbooks can be ordered for an additional fee of $100. Please note: We do our best to get the book to you in time but cannot guarantee delivery by the seminar date. In the event of a postal strike or other delivery disruption, you may not receive your book on time or may incur additional shipping charges. See the Standard Terms of Service for details.

Kenneth is a frequent writer on tax matters and an award-winning author of many notable published papers. Kenneth is currently Chair of STEP Canada’s national Tax Technical Committee, a member of the Editorial Board of the Federated Press International Tax Planning Journal, and a member of The Joint Committee on Taxation of the Canadian Bar Association and the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada. Kenneth was formerly a Governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation, Director of STEP Canada and Chair of STEP Calgary, and a member of FP Canada’s Technical Knowledge Development Committee. Hugh Neilson FCPA, FCA, TEP![]() Hugh is a member of the Video Tax News Editorial Board. He also practices as an independent contractor to Kingston Ross Pasnak LLP in Edmonton, AB. His practice focuses on income tax services for individuals and owner-managed private corporations. Hugh was awarded the Alberta gold medal and National silver medal when he wrote the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Uniform Final Examination in 1990, and has practiced in the area of taxation since. He provides tax consultation in many diverse areas, including business structuring and restructuring, negotiations with Canada Revenue Agency auditors and Appeals Officers, tax-effective compensation strategies, immigration and emigration planning and strategies for tax-effective personal, family and estate planning. Hugh is the 2014 recipient of CPA Canada’s Award for Excellence in Income Tax, and a 2017 recipient of a CPA Canada Volunteer Recognition Award. Hugh serves on a variety of committees and organizations. He is presently a member of CPA Alberta’s Members in Tax Working Group and the Joint Committee on Taxation of CPA Canada and the Canadian Bar Association. Hugh is the Chair of CPA Canada's Small and Medium Practitioners Tax Committee, and the CPA Canada Co-Chair of the CPA Canada - CRA Service Committee. He serves as a Director, and the Treasurer, of the Centre for Public Legal Education of Alberta. He is a former Governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation.
